Wes Welker Will Be Ready For Camp

New England Patriots, Wide Receiver, Wes Welker, will be a full participant in Training Camp.  Welker led the league in receptions in 2009 and was 2nd in yards. But many believed the PPR machine would not be ready to start camp after tearing his ACL in the last regular season game of the season (Welker had off-season knee and shoulder surgery)

The 5'9 Wide Receiver participated in individual drills during OTAs and Mini Camp but Doctors were unsure if he'd be able to partake in Training Camp. If Welker was deemed unable to participate in Camp, the Patriots would be forced to place him on the Physically Unable to Perform list, keeping him out until Week 6 of the regular season.

What this means: Welker may not be 100% right now and he may skip out on some of the team activities in Camp, but it seems the Pats believe he'll be healthy enough by the end of Camp for him to make a complete recovery by Week 1 and to keep him off the PUP list. It's not much of a risk to declare him eligible for camp, even if he regresses and can't come back until Week 2 or 3, that's a much better option than forcing the team to bench him until after Week 6.

Fantasy Impact: Tom Brady will likely have his most reliable target on the field Week 1. Plus Randy Moss will have a viable threat lining up opposite him. Welker will help prevent Defense from focusing on Moss and will give Brady a great check-down/move the chains option. If you are in a PPR league, Welker is as good as GOLD. Even if your league doesn't reward receptions, Welker still had 1,348  despite missing 2.5 games last season.  FFChamps.com will keep an eye on his progress through Training Camp. But it appears Welker will be ready to start Week 1.
